New Year's
Share
As we approach the end of 2023, everyone is all about 'out with the old and in with the new'. An opportunity to let go of what was less than perfect in the last year, and planning a whole new existence....starting on a clean canvas.
The truth is that the clean canvas can only become a masterpiece if we use colours and paint techniques that have been used and re-used in the past. Learning what shades and paintbrushes work for our specific, unique, life is important to make 2024 the best year yet.
So let's now focus on tonight. Many of our fur babies, and wildlife alike, don't cope very well with the change to the new year. Until a large percentage of the population takes responsibility and stops making fireworks a part of the celebrations, our animals and nature will suffer. What can we do to make the switchover smoother?
- The best is to stay at home if you have sensitive animals, as your presence is still the best source of comfort.
- Take them for exercise in the afternoon so they are tired, and more chance they will sleep through the night.
- Make sure they are in the house and cannot escape if they get scared - many get lost New Year's eve.
- Make sure all form of ID's are working, microchip and name tags.
- Provide a secure area. A crate if they are used to it, or a room that they feel happy in.
- Play soothing music, loud if necessary.
- Herbal tranquilizing teas help: Chamomile tea at 1ml per kg can be added to food twice daily leading up to the celebrations. Or the following formula works well: Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) 20%, Saint John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) 20%, Withania (Withania somnifera) 40% and Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) 20%, at 1ml per 5kg.
- Lifewave patches: Aeon, Carnosine
Wishing all the very best for the new year. May it be everything you desire for yourself and your pets
